Groundbreaking for the Oasis at Dodge ParkGround Breaking Ceremony Held at The Oasis at Dodge Park

 October 15, 2014 – Worcester, MA – On October 15th, 2014, a ground breaking ceremony was held at The Oasis at Dodge Park, a revolutionary new Alzheimer’s and Dementia Residential Care Facility being built on the site of the old Odd Fellows Home at 102 Randolph Rd, Worcester, MA.

The new facility will be built in two phases with 82 total units – Phase One will consist of 50 beds and Phase Two will have 32 beds. The project, designed by Levi + Wong Associates (Concord, MA) combines the feel of a luxurious hotel with all the comforts and amenities of home. Once completed, the secure, 60,000 square foot facility will encourage enjoyment of the natural surroundings, including a large, central courtyard and many large gardens so residents are able to keep all their senses active. Two dining rooms will be built around the central courtyard and the common activity area will have a two-story high ceiling and a multiple glass windows to bring natural light into the facility.

At the ground breaking, keynote speaker State Senator Harriette Chandler applauded the efforts of Dodge Park owners Micha Shalev and Ben Herlinger for their leadership and vision in moving forward with this ambitious and much-needed project. Other speakers included:

  • Dr. Catherine DuBeau, Chief of Geriatrics at UMass Memorial
  • Dr. Gary Moak, Medical Director of the Moak Center for Healthy Aging
  • State Representative Jim O’Day
  • Worcester City Councilor Philip P. Palmieri
  • Hank Stolz of Charter TV3 and WCRN 830 AM served as Master of Ceremonies

“This ground breaking is a culmination of efforts by many people, both in the private and public sectors and is a testament to how a community can work together to achieve great success,” remarked Oasis co-owner Micha Shalev to the nearly 100 guests who gathered for the event.

In her remarks, Dr. Catherine DuBeau, Chief of Geriatrics at UMass Memorial brought attention to Shalev and Herlinger’s style of management noting, “They are very involved and caring individuals and they work closely with a resident’s family to deliver the best care possible.”
