1910930_06272010-120x150Phyllis M. (Holmes) Olson, 79, of Chapel Street, died peacefully on Thursday, June 24, 2010, in the Dodge Park Rest Home, Worcester, after a short battle with cancer.

Her husband of 56 years, Irving W. Olson, died in 2008. She is survived by her two daughters, Kristina “Tina” A. Hunter and her husband Robert and their son Andrew, all of Shrewsbury, and Lynne I. Olson of Holden; a brother, William Holmes of Dennis; and a sister, Carolyn Tymosko. A brother, Robert Holmes, predeceased her. She was born on April 22, 1931 in Worcester, a daughter of Chester and Astrid (Swenson) Holmes and has lived in Holden for 52 years before recently moving to Dodge Park.

Phyllis was a graduate of Commerce High School. She was an avid bowler and played in the Strikers Bowling League at the AMF Auburn Lanes every Wednesday morning. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, its Women’s Circle and volunteer at the Holden Senior Center. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family.

Her family would like to extend their appreciation and gratitude to the staff at the Dodge Park Rest Home for their care and compassion.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a calling hour starting at 10 a.m. followed by a Funeral Service at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 28th, in the Immanuel Lutheran Church, 346 Shrewsbury St., Holden.
