Mrs. Mary R. (Carota) Ciullo, of Worcester, formerly of Millbury, died Thursday, October 13, 2011 in The Jewish Healthcare Center. She was 94.

Mary was born on August 4, 1917 in Worcester a daughter of Italian immigrants Vincenzo and Antoinette (Luzzo) Carota. She was a graduate of the former Fanning Girls Trade School and as a talented seamstress she then worked at the former McLaughlin Dress Shop as a dressmaker. A resident of Millbury for over 44 years, she moved to the Dodge Park Rest Home in Worcester over 3 years ago.

She stayed at home to raise her children and later worked at the former Hodes Supermarket in Webster Square. She then worked as a medical claims representative for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in Westborough for over 10 years before retiring.

Her husband of 60 years, John A. Ciullo died February 17, 1998. She is also predeceased by her brothers, George and Angelo Carota.

True to and proud of her Italian heritage Mary was a fantastic cook. The matriarch of her family, her life was centered on them. She had a contagious smile and will be lovingly missed and remembered. In addition to her talents with needle and thread she was an accomplished painter. Mary was a founding member of Our Lady of Loreto Church, a member of its Women’s Guild and Leisure Club and the Golden Years at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.

She leaves her children, Patricia A. McNamara and her husband, F. Michael, of Shrewsbury and James J. Ciullo and his wife, Marilyn, of Libertyville, Illinois; her sister, Lena O’Malley of Worcester; her grandchildren, Michael J. McNamara and his wife, Ashley, of Hopkinton, Mark P. McNamara and his wife, Denise, of Westborough, Jay Ciullo of Elmhurst, Illinois and Jeffery Ciullo and his wife, Rachel, of Libertyville, Illinois; her great-grandchildren, Owen, Trevor, Cecily, Casey, Riley and Colton McNamara, Alexandra, Reagan, Jack, Jonathan and Joey Ciullo; nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will honor and remember Mary’s life by gathering for a calling hour at Heald & Chiampa Funeral Directors ~ The Sumner House, 5 Church Road, On the Common, Shrewsbury Center, on Monday, October 17th from 8:30 to 9:30 AM before leaving in procession to Our Lady of Loreto Church, 34 Massasoit Road, Worcester where her funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 AM. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.

Her family is eternally grateful to both Dodge Park Rest Home and Jewish Healthcare and Hospice for the wonderful care extended to Mary and family. Her memory may be honored with a contribution to Jewish Healthcare Center, 5th Floor Activities, 629 Salisbury St., Worcester 01609.
