UntitledHelen L. (Dion) Letendre, 89, of Worcester, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 31, 2009, at the Dodge Park Rest Home. Her beloved husband, Jean Letendre, predeceased her on December 31, 1993.

Helen is survived by several nieces and nephews including George Dion of Shrewsbury and Dianne Dion of Worcester, as well as several great nieces and great nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers and a sister, Leo and Eugene Dion and Edna Laveque. Born in Fall River, she was a daughter of George J. and Marie (Dube) Dion. She grew up and lived in Fall River for many years, before moving to the Worcester area over fifty years ago. She graduated from high school in Fall River and later from Rhode Island School of Design.

Helen worked as a sales clerk for various card and gift shops, particularly Putnam Card and Gift at White City and Cards Etc in downtown Worcester. She had been a member of Saint Charles Borromeo Parish. She enjoyed designing with flowers. Helen also enjoyed participating in many social functions and activities at Assumption College, with her husband, who was a Professor of Chemistry at the college. She also dedicated herself to the college by volunteering for many years.

Helen’s family would like to extend a warm thank you to the wonderful people at Dodge Park Rest Home, for their wonderful caring and love.

Calling hours for Helen will be held Sunday, January 3, from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 6 p.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. Interment will be held privately on Monday in Notre Dame Cemetery in Fall River.
