James R. Guerin, 76, of Auburn, died Thursday, August 4, 2011 at the Saint Vincent Hospital, Worcester, with his loving family by his side.
He leaves his beloved wife of 48 years, Mary E. (Domingue) Guerin; his three children, Michael E. Guerin and his wife Karen of Bolton, Robert J. Guerin and his wife Ellen of Sandwich and Carolyn E. Berglund and her husband David of Holden; his cherished seven grandchildren, Michelle, Connor, Griffin, Casey Rose, Elizabeth, Jennifer and Olivia; his two sisters, Constance Brodeur of Shrewsbury and Elaine Hall of Richmond, VA; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Madeline Tucker.
Jim was born and raised in Worcester, son of the late Edmund L. and Constance (Mitchell) Guerin and has lived in Auburn for 11 years, previously in Worcester. He was a graduate of the former Classical High School and the College of the Holy Cross, Worcester. He also attended Bentley College, Waltham.
Jim worked as a CPA for several companies in the Worcester area before retiring. In his retirement years, he was active with the Literacy Volunteers of Greater Worcester, where he served terms as both president and treasurer. In addition to his grandchildren, Jim was most proud of being a Holy Cross Alum and a “Purple Knight”. He enjoyed the Boston Red Sox and studied and read about the Civil War extensively.
Jim’s family would like to thank everyone at the Dodge Park Rest Home and the staff of the St. Vincent Hospital 33 South Wing for their many kindnesses and compassionate care.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Jim’s family on Monday, August 8th from 4-7 PM in the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central Street, Auburn. His funeral will be held on Tuesday with the procession gathering at the funeral home at 9 AM to be followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated at10 AM in the North American Martyrs Church, 8 Wyoma Drive, Auburn. Entombment will follow in the Notre Dame Mausoleum, Worcester.
