Worcester, MA January 21, 2013 — Dodge Park Rest Home announced today that all of its Alzheimer’s care directors and direct care staff are undergoing a unique Alzheimer’s and Dementia training program approved by National Council Of Certified Dementia Practitioners.
The Certified Dementia Care Manager (CDCM) designation is considered the highest standard of Alzheimer’s and dementia care within the healthcare industry.
“Dodge park Rest Home has always set the standard in care for patients with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia,” said Micha Shalev MHA, CDP CDCM, the owner and director of Alzheimer’s care and quality of life for Dodge Park Rest Home. “Our Alzheimer’s program is considered by many to be the model for Alzheimer’s care.
To receive CDCM certification, an Alzheimer’s care director must complete a comprehensive education program and prove competency in several critical areas including best practices, policy and procedures, professional ethics, customer service, family support and professional development.
The certification program is designed to strengthen the supervisory skills of the directors of these specialized units, while also enhancing the use of new methods, theories and tools related to Alzheimer’s and dementia care practices.
“Prior to working with the NCCDP, we had an internal training program that we used to train each of our Alzheimer’s care directors and direct care staff members,” said Micha Shalev. “
“The impact of this advanced training is significant because of the number of lives our staff members touch on a daily basis,” added Shalev.
According to the Alzheimer’s Association, more than 5 million American now live with this fatal disease, and it is considered the seventh leading cause of death.
“The NCCDP training and certification program will be invaluable as the incidence of Alzheimer’s disease continues to grow,” said Shalev. “We want every one of our directors, RP, CNA, and supportive team members to be experts in caring for individuals who are living with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. This will allow us to provide the best possible medical care, as well as the highest quality of life, for each of our residents.”
